The Moncora Biopark is a space for ecological conservation and environmental education located in the upper part of Barichara, Santander. This park, which covers approximately 6 hectares, is dedicated to the restoration of the tropical dry forest, an ecosystem that has suffered a significant reduction in Colombia.
Founded in 2009 by the Aquileo Parra - Friends of Barichara Association, the biopark offers visitors the opportunity to walk along ecological trails, participate in meditation, yoga, photography and bird, flower and insect watching activities. In addition, it has about 1,100 meters of pedestrian trails, a caney classroom built with bioconstruction techniques, rainwater reservoirs and an irrigation system.
The Moncora Biopark also functions as a living educational classroom, where environmental education programs are developed for local students, with the objective of promoting ecological awareness and conservation of the natural environment.
From the park, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Suarez River canyon and the town of Barichara, making it an ideal place for contemplation and direct contact with nature.
